16 May First Department Summer Recess Filing Deadlines
{1 minute to read} It may not feel like it yet, but summer is just around the corner, and with it comes the First Department’s summer recess. While temperatures are rising, the Court’s recess puts your appeal on ice!
The 2022 June Term deadline to perfect your appeal is March 21st. After the June Term, the Court is in recess until the September Term.
Meaning, that if you perfect your appeal between March 22nd and July 11th, your appeal will be on the Court’s September Term. The Respondent will have until August 10th to file their brief, and your case will not be calendared until September 6th.
