The Supreme Court of New Jersey

As the highest appellate court for the State of New Jersey, the Supreme Court reviews cases from the lower courts. There are very limited appeals which may be taken as a right. The majority of appeals must be requested to be heard by filing a petition for certification with the Court.

Appellate Division of New Jersey

The Appellate Division of New Jersey hears appeals from the Law and Chancery Divisions of the New Jersey Superior Court, the Tax Court, and final decisions of State administrative agencies. The Court is broken down into 8 parts (A-H) and decides approximately 6,500 appeals and 10,000 motions each year.
